ABOUT !VEN...

As you know... This is Iven's Voice Box... So, it's a place for me to voice out all that's in my heart... I'm not really into blogging, but hey! life's all about trying out new things, RIGHT !?! Hahax... So, here goes!

I was in Singapore recently on a trip that's... Shall I say INSPIRED by Elizebeth Gilbert's worldwide best-seller, "Eat, Pray, Love"... It's a book that I absolutely love, and also a movie (starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem ) that I absolutely adore! *Go watch the movie if you haven't already seen it... I watched it a dozen times...

For the EAT part, I ate loads of fantastic food thanx to my cousin sisters... They introduced me to amazing stalls and food outlets... The dishes that I'm still drooling for are the "black chicken herbal soup mee suah" and the sour and appetizing "lah-lah (which is a type of shellfish if you have no idea what that is...)"

Lah-Lah...
This is the place... It's located along Jalan Masjid...

As for PRAY... I did quite some thinking of my own... Although I'm not really a spiritual person, I still do pray... I pray to "God" I have never imagined what he looks like, but I still think that it's fairly important to believe in a higher power that controls the cosmo... I also believe in Dao teachings and like Hinduism very much... Haha... These two religions seem so different yet so alike in some ways... Oh well, God shall always be in my heart, but who God is really isn't up to me to decide...

Praying In the Buddhist Temple...

LOVE... When you think about love,  you think about cupid, the birds and the bees, kisses and red roses... But that didn't happen to me in Singapore... I don't think I was even attracting anyone's attention... I don't think I'm THAT ugly, so that really hurt my self-esteem... But oh well, as long as I felt love throughout this trip that's enough...

What love is to me (in this trip) to me, love is when my cousin sisters took time off from their lives to accommodate me and to spend money and let me enter into their lives... Although I had to sleep on the floor, it was still comfortable to me... Cause it's already a luxury to have a place to call home for that 15days... Over there, life is stressful and hectic... Everything is all about money, money and money... I truly feel blessed to have such wonderful sisters to take care of me and to welcome my stay with them with such opened arms... I am blessed and I am, loved... : )

The Family Of Gorgeousness!

OVERALL: This journey was enlightening to me... It reminded me that life is not easy and money doesn't fall from the sky... It also taught me that sometimes life just isn't gonna be kind to you, and you just have to be grateful for what you already have and make the best out of your current circumstances... As Katy Perry's song goes... After a hurricane, comes a rainbow... Suffer now and enjoy later in life... A quote I need to absorb and tattoo in my brain at all times...

Uniquely Singapore...
